In order to further improve the Xiamen Fire Department’s operational ability and strengthen the team’s responsiveness as a unit, the local Fire Authority conducted a Night Fire Drill in the Millennium Harbourview hotel Xiamen on Oct 13th, 2014, from 7pm to 9pm.

The Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen is the first international hotel in Xiamen. Located on Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, the hotel stands 22 stories with 88 meters high, the overall construction areas is 34777 square meters.  This luxury business hotel is fully operational and provides services including accommodations, restaurants, catering, entertainment, conferences, shops and offices.

The fire simulation happened in room 415 and was staged to look like it was caused by a discarded cigarette end which caught the room linens, furniture and curtain on fire.  Upon receiving the alarm, the fire department arrived promptly at the hotel with 2 fire trucks and more than 10 firemen. The simulated fire was extinguished by water pumped from the 3rd floor terrace. Using only 2 hoses, the fire was controlled within 10 minutes. The fire department next demonstrated to the Millennium staff how to use the fire extinguishers.

In order to ensure the safety and security of our hotel guests and staff, The Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen will conduct annual emergency fire trainings and fire drills. However, this was the first night-time fire drill. The local fire authorities greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation as they work towards improving their familiarity with hotel fire equipment, as well as improving fire protection awareness in our hotel.
